Prayer for my Mother

Post by 4wheels » Tue Jul 17, 2012 10:59 pm

So, long story short, my mother is fighting Parkinsons. Recently, a medical procedure has been shown to give relief to Parkinsons patients in regards to their tremors. In short, it is a "brain" surgery of sorts. The doctor will implant an electronic devise akin to a pace maker into her head that will stimulate a part of her brain that affects the tremors. I don't even pretend to fully understand. At any rate, her surgery is the end of August. I know this comes early, but it is good to get the prayers going so there is lots of coverage. :) I will keep you posted with what I hear as info comes to me.

Thanks.

    So, I got regular updates today during my mothers brain surgery. She had what they call Deep Brain Stimulation Surgery (YouTube it). After about 3 hours of surgery, she was moved to ICU (don't worry, nothing went wrong) for recovery and an overnight stay (tonight). Her response to this therapy, according to my sister, was amazing. When they got ready to test the electrodes, mom was shaking badly from her Parkinson's tremors. As soon as they turned on the electricity, she stopped...almost immediately! So, they are VERY encouraged by her response and very hopeful for an improved quality of life for her.

I will be in TS this evening if you read this and want to share in our relief and happiness. :D

Wow, I wish I would have seen this thread earlier, I would have been praying but I am glad it went well. I guess I can now pray for a speedy recovery :).
